AC-ORCL series are easy to disperse organoclays, suitable for white oil and other medium and low polarity solvent systems, with good dispersibility, excellent suspension performance, high thickening and anti settling properties. They have been widely accepted by the market and used in Dry Powder Suspension Friction Reducers as the suspending agent.
In the shale gas fracturing fluid system, the most widely used Friction Reducers are dry powder and emulsion. The use of dry powder friction reducers requires the use of a mixing vehicle for liquid preparation, during which the liquid preparation device and storage tank often occupy a large area with high costs; During the liquid preparation process, it is also easy to produce uneven viscosity and liquid stratification, which affects the effectiveness of the thickening and friction reducing performance. Although emulsion friction reducers can solve the above problem of liquid preparation, due to the influence of polymerization technology, most emulsion friction reducers have low molecular weight and low effective content. Under the same concentration, their viscosity and drag reduction performance are not as good as dry powder friction reducers. Moreover, more and more requirements for using flowback liquid preparation make it difficult to meet the requirements of ready to use when emulsion friction reducers are used.
Therefore, in order to solve the above problems, combined with the application advantages of dry powder and emulsion friction reducers, the powder suspension friction reducers came into being. It has the advantages of both dry powder and emulsion friction reducers. It not only has high molecular weight, good viscosity, but also has good dispersion, stability and drag reduction performance. Ready to use on-site, simplifying the liquid preparation process and achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
When dry powder friction reducer contact with water, they quickly dissolve and cause viscosity increase. Therefore, when preparing powder suspension friction reducer, mixed types of white oil are often used as solvents, and efforts are made to ensure that the suspension does not contain water as much as possible. Because the dry powder friction reducer itself is hydrophilic, it is prone to settling in white oil. If left for a long time, the dry powder will precipitate in the system and form a dense and hard precipitate at the bottom of the barrel, which affects the on-site liquid preparation and use. Therefore, it is necessary to add the AC-ORCL series organoclays as suspension agent which is compatible with the solvent and dry powders to form stable suspensions.
